Softer, fresher, more sustainable

Our bedding is woven at 400 thread count in a satin weave, which gives a smooth, cool surface without any chemical finish. That smoothness is what makes it feel soft, and it is also what makes it practical: a smooth fibre picks up less moisture and dries faster, so it stays fresh with a weekly wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle rather than an occasional hot one.

Free from pesticides

Our bamboo is grown without pesticides or harmful chemicals, and the finished fabric is certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, ECOCERT and Organic 100. Those certificates cover the fibre and the finished product, so the claim is checked by someone other than us.

We ship carbon-neutral through DHL. Delivery is free to the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany with no minimum order, and we ship worldwide.

Why bamboo grows well

Bamboo reaches full height in three to five years and regrows from its own root system after cutting, so nothing has to be replanted. It needs no artificial irrigation and no pesticides, and it takes up far less land and water per kilo of fibre than cotton does. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Which size fits a UK single, double, king or super king bed?

Our sizes are European and given in centimetres. A UK single (90 x 190 cm) takes our 90 x 200 cm fitted sheet, a UK double (135 x 190 cm) our 140 x 200 cm, a UK king (150 x 200 cm) our 160 x 200 cm and a UK super king (180 x 200 cm) our 180 x 200 cm. The deep pocket and the elastic all the way round take up the extra length. Every size, with UK names alongside, is in our bedding size guide.

Do you make bedding in custom sizes?

Not as a standard option: we sell the sizes listed in the shop, which include long fitted sheets of 210 and 220 cm. If you need a size we do not list, email info@boomba-bamboo.com with your measurements and we will tell you whether we can help.

Why does the label say viscose if it is 100% bamboo?

Because viscose is the form bamboo takes when it is made into a soft fabric. Bamboo is a hard, woody plant, so the cellulose from the bamboo is dissolved and spun into new fibres, and that fibre is called viscose. There is no cotton or polyester in it. Do you sell complete bedding sets?

Yes, our bedding sets contain a fitted sheet, a duvet cover with a bamboo button closure and pillowcases, all in the same colour from the same dye batch. Single sets are made for 80 x 200 and 90 x 200 cm beds, and double sets for 140 x 200, 160 x 200, 180 x 200 and 200 x 200 cm. A duvet is not included and can be ordered separately.

Does bamboo bedding stay soft after washing?

Yes, bamboo bedding keeps its softness and usually gets softer over the first few washes. To keep it that way, wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle with a mild detergent and no fabric softener. Line-dry it or use the tumble dryer on a low setting.

Which certifications does your bedding have?

Our bedding carries three independent certifications. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 means the finished fabric, including the dyes, has been tested for harmful substances. ECOCERT checks that the bamboo is grown organically, without pesticides or chemical fertilisers, and Organic 100 (Organic Content Standard) confirms the organic content of the fabric from plantation to finished textile. What is a sateen weave?

Sateen is a satin-type weave in which more of the yarn lies on the surface of the fabric, which gives it a smooth feel and a soft sheen. All our sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases are woven in a 400 TC sateen weave. Compared with a plain percale weave, sateen feels silkier and drapes more softly.

What does TC (thread count) mean?

Thread count (TC) is the number of threads woven into one square inch of fabric, counting both directions. A higher thread count generally gives a smoother, denser fabric. Our sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases are 400 TC, and because bamboo fibre is finer than cotton, it feels comparable to a much higher cotton thread count.
