What makes a bamboo duvet cover different

ARTICLES & GUIDES

The articles people actually read to the end. Care guides, size charts, the honest comparison between bamboo and cotton, and what to do about night sweats. Short, useful, no filler.

Are bamboo duvets ideal for people with allergies?

Yes, bamboo duvets are hypoallergenic and naturally antibacterial. The smooth fibres prevent dust mites from settling and the OEKO-TEX®-certified materials are free from harmful substances. Ideal for asthmatics and those with allergies.

Are Boomba Bamboo® duvets 100% organic and natural?

Yes, our duvets are made of 100% organic and naturally produced bamboo. With Organic 100 certification, the entire production chain is documented as fully natural. No synthetic additives, no chemical treatments.

Can I get advice?

Yes, you're welcome to ask us for advice. Contact us via the contact form, by email at info@boomba-bamboo.com or by phone during office hours. We'll happily help you choose the right size, colour or product for your needs.

Are bamboo duvets washable at home?

Yes, our bamboo duvets are machine-washable at 30 °C on a delicate cycle in a large drum (8 kg+ capacity). Use mild detergent, avoid fabric softener and tumble-dry on low. For very large duvets a launderette offers more space and care.

At what temperature is it best to wash my bamboo pillowcases?

Bamboo pillowcases are best washed at 30 °C on a delicate cycle. Wash regularly for hygiene — frequency matters more than temperature. Make sure they are completely dry before reuse to prevent mould.

SPECIALIZED IN BAMBOO BEDDING

Better sleep starts with what you sleep on. We chose bamboo because it handles temperature, moisture and skin sensitivity better than cotton or synthetic blends and we built the whole brand around that single material. From cot-sized fitted sheets to super king duvet covers, everything we make is 100% organic bamboo, triple-certified, and designed to last.

SPECIALISED IN BAMBOO DUVET COVERS.

A duvet cover for every season

A bamboo duvet cover handles warm and cold nights differently because the fibre regulates temperature and moisture at the same time. On a hot summer evening it wicks sweat away from your body roughly three times faster than cotton. On a cold winter night the same fibre holds insulating air against the skin without trapping humidity, which is what makes synthetic duvet covers feel clammy. The result: one cover, year-round, no replacement for the seasons.

The natural antibacterial properties of the fibre also mean the cover stays fresh longer between washes — good for your skin and for how often the washing machine has to run.

Basic and Premium

Both lines are 100% organic bamboo. The difference is in the weave density and what comes with each:

  • Basic300 TC, button closure, classic finish. Same hypoallergenic properties, same OEKO-TEX® certification.
  • Premium400 TC, available with our signature continuous tuck-in flap (no buttons or zips), in nine colours. Denser weave, silkier feel.

If you've never owned bamboo bedding before, Premium is the most direct way to feel the difference. If you're building a second set or a guest-room set, Basic gives you the same bamboo advantages at a friendlier price. Both pair with our bamboo duvets — summer or winter weight.

What thread count actually means

Thread count (TC) is the number of threads woven into one square inch of fabric. Higher TC equals denser, smoother, more durable fabric. Because bamboo fibres are finer and stronger than cotton, our 400 TC Premium bamboo feels comparable to 1,200 TC cotton — but without the heavy weight.

The fibre itself helps too. Bamboo has a smooth, round structure under a microscope, with microscopic channels that move air and moisture through the fabric. That's why bamboo wrinkles less than cotton, drapes better, and stays cooler against the skin.

The benefits of bamboo

  • Free of harmful substances. Independently tested under OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, certified organic by ECOCERT, and verified 100% organic content under the Organic 100 standard.
  • Smoother than cotton. Less friction against skin and hair, fewer creases on your face when you wake up. A meaningful difference for sensitive skin and curly hair.
  • Hypoallergenic. The smooth fibre structure gives dust mites and pollen less to settle on. A good choice for people with allergies, eczema or asthma. Read hay fever and sleep.
  • Moisture-wicking. Wicks roughly three times faster than cotton, which makes a real difference for night sweats and warm bedrooms.
  • Sustainable by design. Bamboo grows up to a metre per day without pesticides, fertilisers or irrigation, and needs around a third less water than cotton — some studies show up to 90% less.
