Tips when buying a toddler duvet

Children grow rapidly, and before you know it, your child will be ready for a toddler bed. This significant milestone often coincides with the purchase of a new bed and matching accessories, such as fitted sheets, duvet covers, and pillowcases from the Boomba Bamboo Kids collection.

When is it time for a toddler bed?

Between the second and third year of life, your toddler is fully prepared for the transition to a toddler bed. The ideal time to consider purchasing a toddler duvet depends on your child's growth. Typically, a toddler duvet is acquired after the second year of life when children are less likely to toss and turn under the duvet. Some toddlers are ready for a larger bed around their second birthday, while others may prefer the safety of the bars in their baby crib. When making the switch from a baby bed to a regular bed, it is advisable to invest in a genuine duvet to keep the larger bed comfortably warm for a good night's sleep.

What size duvet do you need?

There are two main options when your child is ready for a new bed:

1. Purchasing a toddler bed: These beds are typically 70x140cm, including a slightly larger duvet. Boomba Bamboo toddler duvets come in the following dimensions:
  - 70x100cm
  - 100x140cm
  - 120x150cm

2. Choosing a normal size single bed:  This option, with a bed size of approximately 140 x 200cm, offers the advantage of longevity, lasting until the teenage years. The corresponding toddler duvet sizes are:
  - 140x200cm
  - 140x220cm

For some children, transitioning from a baby bed to a regular bed can be an exciting but daunting experience. In such cases, a toddler bed with side rails or a gate is a suitable option, providing security for active sleepers or those prone to rolling out of bed. The smaller toddler duvet is designed to match their size, offering a cozy and secure feeling that promotes a good night's sleep.

Getting used to the new bed

While many children eagerly anticipate the move to a big bed, the first night in a new bed can still be a bit nerve-wracking. Here are some tips for a successful transition:

1. Discuss the arrival of the new bed with your child in advance to help them prepare.
2. Choose accessories and duvet covers for the new toddler room together to make the bed uniquely their own.
3. If your child feels a bit anxious, pick out a comforting stuffed animal together to provide company at night.
4. Introduce the small toddler duvet to the crib just before the transition to allow your child to adjust gradually.

If the transition proves challenging, remain calm, and avoid forcing anything. Revisit the transition after a few weeks.
